Birthday Boy!

This past Friday was Bryan's birthday!! I've been waiting forever for it to finally come. I really wanted him to open his presents the Monday before. It was such a long wait! Bryan didn't even seem to notice. Well, let's see.....

I "made" Bryan cinnamon rolls for breakfast because they are one of his favorites. And when I say "made," I mean "baked-Rhodes-rolls." It's too difficult to make cinnamon rolls without premeditation and preparedness. And Rhodes are so good, so why bother. Then we opened presents! Note the beautiful wrapping!
I had no idea what to get him. It's that always the story? And I'm sure none of it was very exciting, but I thought that he needed everything I got him. Except maybe the jacket. Let me explain. Bryan loves his brown corduroy blazer. And he's probably the only person who can pull it off. So my idea was to get him a black blazer.....for obvious reasons. So I went everywhere and of course no one had anything and it's probably because it's summer and who needs a jacket? But still, no one, really? Until I went to Macy's. I usually don't because they are more expensive than other places, but I thought it couldn't hurt. And what did I find.....a smokin' hot leather jacket. On sale. For like 75% off. It was only $10 more than the ONE black blazer I found. It is dark brown, which kinda sucks because he could really use a nice black jacket (let me note that I think he should get a men's peacoat, but he refuses. I'm sure he would look amazing. And I'm always right), but it was such a good deal and so good looking and I liked it (which is the most important thing), so I bought it. Bryan likes it too and it looks great on him. Now I wish I had a picture, but sadly not. It is getting hot around here, so we'll have to wait until Fall. Whew, that was long. So quickly, I also got him a new leather wallet (which he REALLY needed), some skinny ties, because he likes them and he could really use some new ties, a new casual reversal belt, because he lost his other one on his business trip, and a new enlarged hymnal for his organ playing at church, seems the other one was held together with duct tape and even then it was falling about. Plus I had the Distribution Center emboss his name on it so he doesn't have to write it on the sides with Sharpie. Basically none of it was fun, but necessary.

Bryan then had a phone interview with Toyota. It would be nice if he got that job, if nothing more than for a change of scenery. We'll see how it turns out.

For his birthday, Bryan wanted to go for a hike. Which is good. We needed to do something active. So we stopped by Quizno's (which is so much better than Subway--why didn't I know this?) for our "picnic lunch" and headed up to Alpine Loop and the Uinta National Park to chose a hiking route. We chose Pine Hallow. And here are our cheesy pictures.
It was such a beautiful hike!
And we had to cross 3 streams. Or maybe the same stream 3 different times. I'm not for sure.
Me being "scared" to cross the stream. Those waters were moving pretty fast.
And lastly, at the top there is still snow. Yep, it's June and still snow. Crazy.
It was a great hike and we had lots of fun. We came back, got cleaned up and went to dinner at P.F. Chang's (yum) and went to get Bryan some new running shoes. And guess what, he really needed new ones of those too. It was an awesome day. It least I think so. And as Bryan will tell you....I'm always right. Happy Birthday my love!!!
